of chicken and eggs

I just finished the novel Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto (who by the way is a Filipina!) and I must say it's a very unusual take on what happily ever after is.

It can be going alone on the honeymoon you've planned and trying your best to create the best of memories you can never have...

Or moving on and living life to the fullest after losing your husband...

Or giving up your present so you could be with your loved one for eternity...

Or it can simply be baked eggs for breakfast on a Sunday morning.

It's a good mix of history, romance and fantasy, taking you to a journey to the other side of Europe people don't really know about. It's a good read on a lazy afternoon or just before going to bed, leaving you hopeful that staying on that train, and continuing the journey a bit more was indeed worth it. :)
